National Trial Law is starting 2026 by welcoming Steven Haspel as a new partner at the firm. Mr. Haspel first joined the firm in 2020, but Partners Jamal Alsaffar and Tom Jacob have been mentoring Steven since he was a college freshman on the University of Texas mock trial team.
“As Steven’s coach at UT, I saw he was an outstanding advocate, and when he became a lawyer, we knew he would be a great addition to our team,” said Partner Tom Jacob.
“Since joining our firm, Steven has proven himself to be one of the best young trial lawyers in Texas. Plus, he’s an outstanding human being and a top professional,” said Jamal Alsaffar, Partner at NTL.
“Steven has demonstrated the skill, integrity, and relentless advocacy that define our practice,” said Partner Laurie Higginbotham, who has tried cases alongside Steven. “His compassion for our clients translates into the exceptional results he achieves in complex cases.”
Steven’s first trial appearance was in Holcombe v. United States, a record-setting $230 million verdict the firm obtained on behalf of victims in the Sutherland Springs mass shooting. Since then, Mr. Haspel has tried several more cases, argued before the Texas Supreme Court, and secured multi-million-dollar results for our clients in all phases of litigation. He has been recognized as one of the top young lawyers in Texas, including by Thomson Reuters Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars, Austin Monthly, and more.
“Becoming a partner at National Trial Law means the world to me,” Haspel said. “To join some of the best trial lawyers in the country, who happen to double as some of my earliest mentors, is a tremendous honor. I am thrilled to lead the firm forward and to continue fighting for our clients.”
